At present, AHDAF is involved in three principal projects: Saint Martha's House, Scholarships and giving for parochial students and Home building and renovation projects...
- Saint Martha's House, an elderly day care center. This center provides a center for social, physical and emotional well-being to elderly Bethlehemite women whose families are unable to provide support in a community where the elderly have traditional been taken care of by adult children. At present 35 women visit the center on a twice-weekly basis, being provided transportation, meals and social activities.
- Scholarships and giving for parochial students, Bethlehem is fortunate to have many parochial schools that provide quality education as an alternative to the poorly funded, overcrowded public schools. However, the cost of private tuition is substantial for most Bethlehemite families, with many not being able to even cover the cost of educational materials. AHDAF assists in partnering international donors with local students to ensure that tomorrow's generation is not left behind!
- Home building and renovation projects, As the cost of land and construction materials has drastically risen in the last twenty years, many disadvantaged families in Bethlehem district have been unable to afford the cost of home construction and renovation, a necessary step for younger generations in families to be able to marry and begin their own families. As with helping families with tuition costs, AHDAF assists with partnering international donors with families who have specific needs to complete construction or renovation of their home.
Beyond these regular means of support, AHDAF helps with individual, as-needed cases for individuals and families when and where possible. We hope that our list of project will grow as our base of support expands!
